Description

This photo-like guidebook compiles the THE TOKYO TOILET project, which was launched to transform public toilets in the city into places that will amaze everyone and lead to new discoveries.

A never-before-seen public toilet has appeared in Shibuya, Tokyo, by 16 creators active around the world. From a shelter in the city, to a spaceship-like toilet, to a squid-like toilet built in Tako Park, none of these toilets have been seen before. They were also the setting for the film " PERFECT DAYS ." Director Wim Wenders described "THE TOKYO TOILET" as "a quiet place in the middle of busy Tokyo." The Tokyo Toilet has been compiled into a book by photographer Yoko Takahashi, "The Tokyo Toilet Book." The record of the 17 "THE TOKYO TOILETs" that she took with great care will surely be remembered as a charming new Tokyo landscape.

I was totally impressed with this project.
Moreover, I think it is particularly significant that it took place in a place with such a powerful message: Tokyo.
Each toilet is a wonderful piece of architecture, art, and landmark.
It stands out as if to say, "What's this?", but strangely enough it blends seamlessly into the Tokyo landscape.
It's a truly Tokyo-like scene.
Each person who gets their hands on it will bring their own imagination and fantasy to it,
I would be very happy if you could read it and understand it.
I hope that this will be an opportunity to notice various changes as time passes, 10 or 20 years from now.
So, please take good care of it and keep it for a long time.
