A collection of works related to the Chinati Foundation, a contemporary art museum established in 1986 in the desert region of Marfa, Texas by American artist Donald Judd.
A book that comprehensively summarizes the collection housed in the site of 340 acres. The book, which was jointly published by the Chinati Foundation and Yale University Press in 2010, was edited and written by the current director, Marianne Stockebrand, and was published in 2020 as a new edition with a new cover photo. .
This comprehensive history of the museum and its catalog of collections is the only book devoted exclusively to the Chinati Foundation and is an important resource for researchers, students and museum visitors .
The second edition of this book includes a new chapter on the permanent work " untitled (dawn to dusk) " by American artist Robert Irwin, who joined the collection in 2016 . At the end of the book, bibliographic information on the artists and materials related to the foundation's special exhibitions, artist-in-residence programs, and other activities are included, reflecting the records of the approximately 10 years since the first edition was published. Includes text by Jenny Moore, director of the Chinati Foundation. It was published in conjunction with the Donald Judd retrospective held at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in March 2020.
