The original graphic is inspired by the Black Panther Party, a political organization believed to have carried on Malcolm X's legacy and a symbolic presence in the Black liberation movement that sought rights and social justice for African Americans in the 1960s. The graphic incorporates the transience of the party, which, despite its various counter-cultural approaches and incredible power, disappeared in just 10 years.
